Today I had my knee surgery. I have felt worse today than I did with my first surgery. The knee was a bit more painful, and I have been experiencing nausea all day. I am finally up and about as the nausea has decreased.
Usually the day after is the most uncomfortable and I am expecting to have a slow and restful time of it tomorrow.
The doctor was expecting the damage in my knees to be very similar, but to his surprise, he said my knees were totally opposite. One knee having damage to the hard cartilage and this knee having "significant" damage to the soft cartilage.
However, he expects the recovery to be about the same. A few weeks.
I am hoping to be back teaching Pilates in 10 days.

Funny how you figure things out little by little after surgery. Come to find out today that my damage was "significant" enough that I had to be cut. That is why I am in more pain now than I was with my right knee. With my right knee my surgery was arthroscopic.
Joe said that I was told by the doctor yesterday, and by him that I was cut. However, with the anesthesia I guess I was too out of it to fully comprehend this information.
I am on more pain medication than last time. And between pain medication, seizure medication and crutches, I am quite comical to watch.
I almost just slammed through my window as I stumbled out of the bed and tried to go to the bathroom. How stupid!
Actually, though, today has not been a bad day, and I have not been that uncomfortable. I have only taken two pain pills and I have already done the exercises that the doctor wanted me to do. I also have begun some exercise drills on the big ball that I know are safe and will increase the speed of my recovery.
My hamstring is not nearly as tight as my left one was after my right knee surgery, and that is going to make my recovery easier.
And, since the doctor had to make the incision on the top/inside of my thigh, I believe I will heal quickly. It is not ideal to be cut in that area, but my muscles were pretty developed there and I am expecting them to bounce back with a degree of speed.
Obviously my doctor felt the same way, as he did think I will be back teaching Pilates quickly.
I guess the next few days will tell.
I am glad your surgery is over. I hope you are feeling better soon. Make sure you take your medicine because you remember what Ben says about Uncle Buddy.
