New Job

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a job!!!
There was a thing with Monmouth that kind of delayed me figuring out exactly where I was going to work. See....I wanted to get a job at Monmouth on Labor & Delivery ((I had done my four week preceptorship there and absolutely LOVED it!!)) I met with the nurse recruiter and then the nurse manager for the floor. The nurse manager told me she would love to have me on the floor if I wanted to work there. She told all the nurses there to welcome me and told them I would be starting in April. The nurse recruiter called me the next day and told me that they wanted to offer me a job but couldn't officially do so until the hospital offically posted the job ((they knew the position was there but no one else really knew about it yet)). It was supposed to be posted five days later. She asked me if I could sit tight until then, but then we would get moving to schedule everything I needed to do before I started working. So I spent almost a week thinking that I had the job I wanted more than anything. When I called the day it was supposed to be posted, I was told that it had come through as a job for an experienced nurse only who was already trained for labor and delivery because of the budget. I was really upset but ....I got over it. ((mom would say that I didn't get over it too easily...hahaha))
Then....I got offers from both JFK and Rahway. So...I've spent the last week trying to figure out exactly where it was I would rather be. After all that, I decided to take the job at JFK on their Neuro floor. I called today to accept the position and I start on April 9th. Woohoo!!!
Hope everyone is doing well. No one has really been on here in a while!! Hope to talk to you guys soon or for someone else to post so that I can comment on their post!!! <3 <3

Up and running...

My computer has had all kinds of problems. I finally have everything back up and running. It has been weeks since I checked the blogs. Both this blog and Katie's. I am enjoying reading up on all the events.

A new dog is coming to our home today. We are going to see if Oreo and Samoa can cope with the possibility of a new dog. We are hoping to rescue this fella. He is a German Shorthair Pointer. Solid brown. His owner abandoned him at the vet when he didn't want to pay for his needed surgery to remove a sock from his stomach. He is only four and a half.

Since the surgery the dog has been in a kennel. And since German Shorthair Pointers do not kennel well, he is deteriorating. The kennel finally called the GSP rescue to take him. They did.

He looks sickly but really only needs a home and a time to recover and rest comfortable.

Joe and I are willing to take this fella because he is only two years younger than Samoa. So our commitment to dogs will not be much more than it is now.

If Samoa and Oreo want to rip this dog's head off, the dog will go back to the rescue. Case closed. We are praying that they will adjust.

The dog looks so much like a German Shorthair Pointer. But usually they are speckled. It is funny to see a solid one. But he looks like he has the potential of being very beautiful when he is healed.

We will see what happens....I will keep everyone posted.

Stuck in the '80s

Poor Uncle Ben can't live in this millenium.

This morning we got on the subject of drugs and choices spawned from the expression "curiousity killed the cat." Ben came up from behind and said, "If someone offers you drugs, just say no" just like Nancy Reagan used to say.

So not only are his hairstyle, moustache, sideburns, and favorite TV shows stuck in the 80s, his anti-drug messages are too.

Its obvious that Keith and Aunt Mary Kay are really into 24 so what other TV shows does everyone like? My favorites right now are:

1. Psych
2. NCIS
3. Bones
4. The Class
5. Monk
6. Everybody Hates Chris
7. The Closer
8. Criminal Minds
9. The Simpsons
10. Til Death

24 reopened

To Keith - I never responded to your post about 24. All I can say after watching it tonight is that the show has gone way downhill and is getting more ridiculous than ever. Even the little things - like Charles Logan having a suit that fits Jack perfectly even though he's a few inches taller (who isn't taller than Kiefer). Looking forward to discussing it with you and Danny can jump in too since this is the first year that we're allowing him to watch it. It's so far fetched and more like fiction horror than drama.

Good news for Danny

Congrats to Brynn for becoming an RN. If you get a job in a mental hospital, perhaps you can steal a straight jacket for my brother Jim???

We have good news here as well. Danny is officially a soccer referee. He took the class yesterday and passed the test and can't wait to give out red cards to middle aged men who dare to argue with him. Unlike Brynn, I know Mike, Denise, and Charlene all knew that he could do it. :)

Glad to see everyone is posting here again. I thought the nesterwhacks got too busy for it.
